Episode 98: Fruits Basket Another Manga Retrospective (Shoujo Sundae Anniversary)
In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review the manga Fruits Basket Another and celebrate their third anniversary of podcasting! The manga follows the journey of Sawa Mitawa, a sixteen-year-old girl with severe social anxiety due to her abusive mother, as she’s taken in by the next generation of Sohmas as a friend. Her bonds with Mutsuki, Hajime, Riku, and the rest of the Sohmas gradually pull her gaze up from the ground and put a smile on her face. She grows particularly close to Shiki Sohma - a middle-school first-year and the son of Akito and Shigure - and a romance seems to bloom between the two of them as they both figure out how to carry the weight of their mothers’ actions.
